Santa Monica's Tax Dollars at Work
I just knew exercise in fresh air was bad.
You're kidding me, right?
In the last six months, park rangers, dispatched by the Santa Monica Police Department in response to complaining neighbors, have stationed themselves on the corner of Fourth Street and Adelaide Drive during much of the day, at the ready to break up any unauthorized kickboxing.
You're kidding me, right?

If you could be anywhere but here...
Funny, but that question has come up three times in so-many weeks. "If you could be anywhere but where you are now, where would you be?" Depending on the person asking, the answer could include current time, past, future, and/or one could be someone else entirely.
When I answered someone in a forum, "Well, I'm pretty happy where I am," they called "BS" on me. Even when I ran down the list of what I was grateful for, they still couldn't believe I didn't want to be somewhere/someone else.
There is a great Bloom County strip (old Bloom County, not that sad Opus thing Breathed is running now), where a college kid is asking the vet in the wheelchair, believing that the vet would want to hunt and maim and bomb and kill... (head back, teeth gritted, fists shaking) "Man, what do you REALLY want to do?" Answer: "Walk."
So when I saw this post, it made me awfully glad to know I'm not the only one.
I remember wanting everything other than what I had. What a selfish little beast I was. Meh, I'm still selfish, just not so self-centered.
Life is truly good. I feel so lucky that I keep wondering what I did to deserve it? Then I remember that what goes around, comes around. Give, give, give, and it comes back to you. Really. Life is grand.

Residents in a home in Brooklyn
Courtesy my friend Ron: "My friend Dave takes his very sweet dog out to a nursing home in Brooklyn a few times a months for the residents to pet her and play with her. They wanted to make a video to explain why they're voting for Obama, and Dave shot and edited it. It's pretty amazing to see because a lot of them are in the 90s"
Kinda wish we had this a couple of months ago for the vote, but forget the election - worth its price in rubies on its own...
